This dictionary primarily reflects contemporary Papiamentu as it is spoken and written in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. It is grounded in a comprehensive 'corpus' that includes spoken language, literary texts, and informational publications such as newspapers and magazines, covering a wide range of topics. Its practical and functional design makes it well-suited for educational purposes, both for teaching Papiamentu and Dutch to native Papiamentu speakers, and for instructing Papiamentu learners who are native Dutch speakers.
Within this dictionary, users will find:

<li>More than 20,000 entries and phrase combinations from Dutch with their translations or explanations in Papiamentu;</li>
<li>An efficient search function located at the top of the word list;</li>
<li>The orthography of Dutch as established in the 'Groene Boekje';</li>
<li>The orthography of Papiamentu used in Bonaire and Curaçao;</li>
<li>Clear usage examples for each entry;</li>
<li>Pronunciation guidance for Papiamentu, including intonation and stress patterns;</li>
<li>Grammatical information for both Papiamentu (e.g., part of speech) and Dutch (e.g., articles 'de/het', plural forms, past tense, past participle);</li>
<li>Over 1,500 idiomatic expressions, sayings, and fixed phrases;</li>
<li>More than 300 common abbreviations and acronyms.</li>

Additionally, this application offers a practice module based on a smaller vocabulary list of 2,700 words. This list corresponds to the one used in the Basic Papiamentu Course. Your progress is tracked automatically; incorrect answers receive immediate feedback with the correct response. This interactive approach facilitates an engaging enhancement of your vocabulary.
Besides PAP-NED, the NED-PAP version is also available in the App Store. If you have both applications installed on your device, you can switch quickly between them by tapping on the header bar.
